A LONG-DISTANCE LOVE AFFAIR
Wilfred and I met in 2002 when he traveled to the United Kingdom and returned for the first time in 2002. Our parents had been friends for many years and we would visit each other's homes for barbeque. Wilfred would come and return to the UK every two years, and we didn't have any contact during the period.
In 2018, he came and I went to his parent's house for a visit, and we instantly clicked and had a lot in common, such as his love of travel, football, and trying new foods, which I also enjoyed, so he asked for my number and we agreed to meet for coffee. Wilfred is a calm and quiet guy, whereas I am the polar opposite, and we would complement each other, he is such a gentleman, and while he was in Kenya, he would appreciate my small victories and that kept me so attached to him; he would go out of his way to open the car door for me, let me pass first, hold my hand, and talk with me, and that drew me to him so much that we became very good friends, When he returned to the UK, he told me he was very interested in me and wanted to take our relationship to the next level, and I was both excited and nervous because it would be a long-distance relationship and it would be so soon to take it to the next level, but he reassured me that it would work out and that we would chat and video call every day. I had more faith in him than I had in previous relationships, and I told him we'd see. He went back to his country and we would chat and video call every day, the fact that our parents were close friends made it easier and Helped a lot.
I felt this was the ideal man for me as our relationship evolved and I fell more in love with him. It wasn't always easy, but we overcame obstacles together. In 2019, he proposed to me via a video call and it was even more beautiful than I had imagined, and he promised to come back in 2020 for us to have a traditional wedding, but due to covid-19, that was not possible, so we rescheduled it for 2021, and we set the dates for June 3rd, and it was even more beautiful, we had close family and friends who made it even more beautiful, and now we have been married for 6 months and I would not want to spend any day without my baby. I love you Wilfred Kariuki.
